Description/Story:

Dukan Ruwa hausa novel is a mesmerizing Hausa adventure novel that tells the story of Shatu, a young girl who was separated from her father since she was a child. After her mother passed away, Shatu was taken to Niger, where she spent most of her life. However, at the age of 18, she returned to Nigeria to live with her father, whom she had not seen in many years. Upon arriving, she was met with hostility from her half-sisters, who resented her for not being of the same mother as them.

As Shatu tries to rebuild her relationship with her family and discover her true identity, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery that takes her through the beautiful Nigerian countryside. The book is written by Rufaida Omar, a talented Hausa author who weaves together intricate plotlines and vivid descriptions to create a compelling narrative.

One of the most striking aspects of the novel is the way it captures the complexity of family relationships. Shatu's half-sisters resent her, and their relationship is strained from the outset. However, as the story unfolds, we begin to see that the source of their animosity runs deeper than mere sibling rivalry. Instead, it is rooted in a sense of displacement and a fear of being displaced.

Shatu's relationship with her father is similarly complex. Although she is thrilled to be reunited with him after all these years, she soon discovers that he is not the same man she remembers. As she learns more about his life and the choices he has made, she is forced to confront some uncomfortable truths about the man who raised her.

Another theme that runs throughout the novel is the idea of identity. Shatu has spent most of her life in Niger and is deeply connected to the country's culture and traditions. However, as she returns to Nigeria, she realizes that she has lost touch with her Nigerian heritage and struggles to fit in. She is also grappling with the fact that she has spent most of her life without her father and is struggling to reconcile the man she remembers with the person he has become.

As she navigates these complex family dynamics and grapples with issues of identity, Shatu finds herself drawn to the beauty of the Nigerian countryside. The book's vivid descriptions of the landscape are one of its highlights, transporting readers to a world of lush greenery, winding rivers, and tranquil lakes. It's almost as if the landscape is a character in its own right, playing a vital role in the story's development.

Along the way, Shatu meets a host of other characters, each with their own stories and struggles. Some of these characters are more sympathetic than others, but all of them add depth and texture to the narrative. There are moments of joy and moments of heartbreak, moments of humor, and moments of tension. Throughout it all, Rufaida Omar's writing is clear and evocative, drawing readers in and immersing them in Shatu's world.

One of the book's central messages is the power of perseverance. Despite the challenges that she faces, Shatu remains determined to discover the truth about her past and to forge a new future for herself. She is a heroine who is easy to root for, and her resilience is an inspiration to readers of all ages.

Prologue

Shatu stood at the entrance to her father's compound, her heart pounding with nervous anticipation. She had not seen him in many years, and she was not sure what to expect. As she stepped through the gates, she was greeted by the sight of a large, sprawling compound, with several buildings scattered throughout. The sound of children's laughter echoed in the distance, and she wondered if any of them were her half-sisters.

Shatu took a deep breath and walked towards the main house. As she drew closer, she saw a figure emerge from the doorway. It was her father, Alhaji Ibrahim, and he looked older than she remembered. His hair was gray, and there were deep lines etched into his face. However, when he saw Shatu, his face lit up with a smile, and he embraced her warmly.

"Welcome home, my daughter," he said. "It's been too long."

Shatu felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. She had spent most of her life in Niger, and she had missed her father...

..greeted by the warm and familiar smell of her childhood home. She looked around at the familiar surroundings, feeling a mix of nostalgia and sadness. Everything seemed both the same and different at the same time.

Her father led her to the living room, where a group of family members had gathered to welcome her home. They hugged her and expressed their joy at seeing her again. Shatu felt overwhelmed by their kindness, but at the same time, she couldn't shake off the feeling of being an outsider.

As the evening wore on, Shatu found herself getting more and more uncomfortable. Her half-sisters continued to give her the cold shoulder, and she could feel their resentment towards her. She tried to engage them in conversation, but they barely responded, and she felt like an unwelcome guest in her own home.

Despite the tension, Shatu was glad to be back in Niger, surrounded by the people she loved. She knew that it would take time to bridge the gap with her half-sisters, but she was determined to make an effort. For now, she would focus on reconnecting with her father and the rest of her family, and savoring the feeling of being back in her homeland after so long.
