T entered their house, cradling a tiny Nokia phone while engaged in a phone call. Observing the state of the Nokia, one could see that it was wrapped in a thin white cloth—perhaps to prevent it from getting scratched. T's tone was chilly as she spoke, her eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief. 

"Mtsss, oh son of God, I told you to leave it until next week, we'll meet here at home. Why create unnecessary trouble? I won't come out without my uniform, I'll get it cleaned. You know, you're better than me, by the way," she scolded.

Musadiq shook his head in resignation, feeling overwhelmed by her antics. He felt a pang in his heart, sensing her playful demeanor masking deeper emotions. With a slight quiver in his voice, he acquiesced, "Okay." T teased, "May God bring you to Friday—it's practically tomorrow, only two days away, right?" She ended the call jokingly, saying, "I don't know, I'm just a good person," but her mind remained preoccupied as she wandered further into their house.

Since there was no living room, she passed through. Absentmindedly, she pressed her lips together, allowing the stuck chewing gum to come unstuck with an audible pop. Chewing gum was forbidden by her father at home, but she indulged nonetheless, even as her son ventured out.

As she lifted her gaze from her phone, she caught a whiff of a familiar perfume. Unwittingly, she bumped her forehead against his chest, then quickly looked up, surprised to see him after yesterday's altercation between her father and his brother. A sharp pain shot through her, and she averted her eyes, pretending to adjust her phone tucked in her bra.

Moving swiftly in front of him to prevent him from circumventing her, she scolded, "And you brought me back to our house again, son of the rich?" She taunted him about his father's disdain for their modest home. Her harsh words contrasted sharply with the warmth of his smile, his eyes revealing no trace of joy. Despite his calm demeanor, an underlying tension was palpable. She cursed quietly under her breath, "Move out of the way."

He responded, his gaze firm, devoid of humor, as he brushed past her without a word. His expression, usually familiar to her, now held an unfamiliar weight. Even in his soul, something seemed amiss, his face betraying no emotion.

Meanwhile, her mother, seated at the room's entrance on a mat, appeared fatigued. T's son seemed perplexed by the misfortune surrounding their family. Though her mother's voice grew louder, urging him not to abandon her, he remained unfazed, bypassing his son without fulfilling any of the tasks listed by his mother. Though he resented T's noisy behavior, he couldn't bring himself to dislike her, a sentiment shared even by their parents.

Sitting beside her mother as if on the verge of tears, T exclaimed, "What's with the son of God now, mother? Have you forgotten what his father did to us yesterday? He hasn't even been home." She looked at her mother after clearing her throat.
