He stood there, clad in a 3-quarter shirt bearing a military logo on his tall frame. A white T-shirt, a military cap, all signifying his affiliation with the military. Though not extremely tall, he possessed a slightly broad face with a skin tone falling into the chocolate category. A well-defined mustache adorned his mouth, complemented by eyes wearing black shadow, reminiscent of Chinese eyes. His chest was broad, akin to the bravery of sparrows.

Hands in his pockets, he stood with an air of seriousness, showing no signs of cheerfulness. Smiles and laughter seemed foreign to him, perhaps because of the disciplined nature of barracks life. He didn't take lightly to any disregard for barracks rules, emphasizing that barracks protocol was not to be taken lightly, even by a soldier who was occasionally doubted.

As the wind blew, the clock on the barracks stood still in the garden. His mouth moved slowly, and upon closer observation, it became apparent that he was engaged in conversation, likely on the phone with airpieces in his ears.

Seemingly talking to his mother, he maintained a calm demeanor. His mother inquired, "*UBAIDULLAH*, I hope everything is fine?" Taking a deep breath, he replied, "Yes, mother, all is well. I hope you're safe. Where are the sisters?"

His mother shared updates, mentioning that Hafiza had gone to his sister's house and Naila was being prayed for. Expressing concern about Hafiza going out for a book in the afternoon, he muttered, "Mtsww!!! My mom won't listen to me. I forbade her from going out for a walk, but she does it anyway. His mother, concerned for his safety, asked when he would come to visit. He assured her of his visit the next weekend, promising, "Don't worry, mom. I'll be there, God willing."

Their conversation continued, and as he heard footsteps approaching, he turned around to find Rumaisa, a fellow military member, standing with a smile. Ending the call, he greeted her. She playfully expressed affection, but he maintained a distance, leaving Rumaisa embarrassed.

Before he could reach his room, his close friend Zaidu appeared, sharing news about a meeting related to the upcoming elections to send soldiers to the border. They discussed the possibility that some individuals might be less suitable for such a responsibility.

As he moved through the barracks, he attracted attention, but he remained focused on his destination. Inside, he encountered Raihana, who refused to leave until he insisted. Zaidu jokingly commented on the attention Ubaidullah received from the ladies.

Later, as he prepared to sleep, he reflected on his past, acknowledging that everything would become history for him. Despite feeling sleepy, he couldn't shake off the memories of his past life and the dreams he held for the future.

Zaidu encouraged him to face the future rather than dwelling on the past, assuring him that God would fulfill his wishes in the end. Ubaidullah, tired but contemplative, closed his eyes, ready to confront whatever lay ahead.
